Greetings my friends,
I hope this note finds you healthy and living your dreams. Wendi, I can't tell you how I have missed having you at the other end of the phone. I didn't realize how many times a day that I just want to pick up the phone and call you. I am eagerly awaiting the day you come home. I have a LOT of things to share with you.
Alley is doing good. The first couple of days she was pouting and playing hard to get. But true to nature, Phil has perservered in his attemps to play with her. She finally gave in to her lonliness and played last night. She loves the lazer light. We took pictures of her and plan to post them.
I was looking for a scripture to share with you today. I stopped to look at your schedule and noticed that you are doing a bit of traveling from town to town. It reminded me of how Jesus must have felt when he went from town to town healing the sick and casting out demons. I began to think how overwhelming that could become to a simple human and I prayed that you would not become weary or overcome with despair. I also pray that you will be so filled with God's Holy Spirit that He will continually lift you up and refresh you in your mission. Please know that you are daily in our thoughts and prayers and when you feel tired, there are many people lifting you up before the Lord. So, with that in mind, I leave you with this scripture which I am sure you know very well:
Matthew 9:35-38
Jesus went through all the towns and villages, teaching in their synagogues, preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness. When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them, because they were harassed and helpless like sheep without a shepherd. Then he said to his disciples, " "The harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field."
Thank you for being full of compassion for those who are helpless and those whom God loves. And above all, thank you for tending to the harvest.
I love you both.

Dear Wendi and Doug,
We continue to pray for you, your team, and all those you come in contact with while on this trip. May you stay healthy, strong, and encouraged as you meet the many needs that surround you. I was reading in Philippians 2 this morning about being shining stars and standing out for the Lord. That is what you are doing as you love and meet the needs of so many. The same chapter talks about how Christ being in the very nature God, did not consider quality with God something to be grasped, but made himself nothing, taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. The example of Christ was that of a servant, just as the two of you are living out. One of my favorite verses is Philippians 2:5 "Your attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus." I ask myself all the time, is this what Jesus would do? The first part of that chapter:
If you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any fellowship with the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion, then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and purpose.
Philippians 2:1-2
It is obvious to see that it is through your love and strength derived from the Lord that you are serving on this trip and in the day to day things you do. Can't wait to hear about the people you meet and your many experiences.
Our prayers are with you.
Love in Christ,
Christy Raschke
